Plug in the roof size, pitch, and shingle grade and get a priced bid using 2026 per-square rates. Built for roofers who bid insurance work and retail re-roofs.
Roofers price by the square (100 sq ft of roof surface), not by the footprint of the house. A 2,000 sq ft home is usually ~20 squares once you add pitch and overhang. Here's the math this calculator runs:
Measure the footprint, then multiply by the pitch factor (a 1.15× medium pitch turns 2,000 sq ft into ~2,300 sq ft of actual surface = 23 squares). Divide by 100.
Architectural shingles run ~$130/sq, underlayment ~$30/sq. Tear-off and disposal add ~$100–150/sq when you're stripping the old roof. These are your hard costs.
Install labor in 2026 lands around $180–$400 per square depending on region and steepness. Multiply by your square count and pitch multiplier.
Charge 30–45% on top of materials + labor for overhead, insurance, and profit. A job that costs you $9,000 in time and materials should invoice around $11,700–$13,000.
Adjusters approve claims that are itemized by component — tear-off, decking, underlayment, ice & water shield, flashing, shingles, ridge vent — each as its own line. Vague lump-sum estimates get reduced. Code upgrades (drip edge, ventilation) are legitimate supplements when photographed. Clovr keeps every estimate, photo, and e-signed contract in one permanent record so a "you never included flashing" dispute ends before it starts.
